EcoNatural Solutions, Inc. was founded by master herbalist Debra St. Claire in 1993. Debra saw a need for an alternative to Altoids® with out animal by-products or refined sugars. Out of her passion for preserving herbal knowledge and herbs of the rainforest emerged the EthnoMedicine Preservation Project (EMPP). Throughout the 1990’s Licorice Sweets, Ginger Snaps, Cherry Sweets, Lemon Tarts, Spearmint, Cinnamon Snaps, and WinterMint were launched, all in decorative tins. .Wanting a smaller less expensive format, the Pocketbox line was developed using four original flavors plus the addition of Cocoa.
Feeling that mints and herbal candies did not offer a broad enough range of healthy candies for children, St. Claire’s Organic Tarts™ were developed. In 1999, the line began with Raspberry, Guava, Lime, and Tangerine. Soon Lemon, Watermelon, and Cherry were added. Most recently the Tart line has been expanded to include the popular flavors Green Apple, Peach, and Grape.
